Footnotes
Submitted by Admin on Sun, 2007-09-09 18:14.
There is a feature, built into this site, that allows users to enter footnotes by using <fn> tags. There is no button available yet to allow the simple inclusion of footnotes so the following instructions are provided.
NOTE: The footnote feature has compatibility issues with Internet Explorer 7 and this graphical editor. It will work the first time you submit the document but, thereafter, the formatting will be stripped out when you edit the document and the graphical editor pops up. For the time being, I recommend you use the Firefox browser. You can download it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Type your text as normal but then when you get to the point where you desire to place a footnote, click on the HTML button.
Now what you're seeing is the HTML source for the content you're creating.
Here is the sentence that you want to create the footnote for. Type your sentence as follows and then open and close the footnote with fn and when you finish click Update. 1
After you click update, you'll see the footnote still in the editor like in this picture and you might think that nothing has happened but you can see, in the final page that the footnote is in place.
Each additional footnote added is automatically numbered and linked.
- The information referred to in the footnote is typed here.
